Who are the Voices 4 Youth in Pain and why this site was created
Our team originated as a group of pediatric pain researchers striving to understand the stigma experienced by youth with chronic pain conditions.
We noticed that many youth with chronic pain experienced stigma and most pediatric patients at the chronic pain clinics are White. We set out to elevate the voices of youth of color who experience chronic pain.
The Chronic Pain Advocacy Group (CPAG) is made up of teens and young adults of color who experience chronic pain and their caregivers. Their expertise from lived experiences has guided the creation of Voices4YouthPain.org and its content.
CPAG identified a major problem: there is not a lot of information out there to help young people struggling with chronic pain. Together, we created Voices4YouthPain.org to make it easier for people to find information and resources that can help with understanding chronic pain, navigating the medical setting, and supporting youth in schools. Along the way, members of the CPAG have reviewed, helped revise, and have approved everything on this website.
We are continuing to improve Voices4YouthPain.org and our resources. We are constantly looking to improve our inclusivity, accessibility, and usefulness for all visitors of this site.
